as you recognize this allows for an unending extension of time and likely stems from an awareness of the approach of the year 2014 marking 100 years since the date of 1914.. .
I'll say this again and again. I wrote to Ray a number of years ago and asked him if the Bible was really inspired of God. His answer in a nutshell was, it is a leap of faith.
He believes it is because of his life experiences. However, he said that each one must evaluate their own life's experiences and then the rest you take on faith.
He said that we do that every day of our lives, we take a lot things on faith not just the Bible.
For me history shows that the Bible is a product of man's history, written by many diverse believers who changed the Bible and so many mistakes were made in recreating the text from it's original greek.
No original manuscripts have been preserved to this day . they are all copies of copies hand me downs through the ages.
How can I have faith in that?

Yes, I think so. And here is why. First, they are corrupted, second, they make absolute truth claims that their believers accept and so that causes them to have blind obedience and they are waiting for the "Ideal" time when the "Carrot" is actually in their mouths not just out of reach.
It's reaching out for the "Carrot" that allows them to accept being micro managed. And so many are frustrated yet allow themselves to be micro managed and affected by it.
For those who don't know what that "Carrot" actually is, it's the absolute truth claim that you can live forever in / on a paradise earth and the "Ideal Time" is near.

i don't have a certain set of beliefs yet i still hope there is a god and contrary to what some have assumed, i'm not an agnostic or athiest (yet)..
No. It is important for me to have hope. I hope that there is life after death. I hope that some unknowable person ( God / Creator ) at this side of death will become knowable on the otherside.
I hope to have a one on one sitdown discussion.
If hope fails me on the other side I won't know it. That would be very sad that after this life there is nothing just like before I was born.

Hi Leavingwt! "Abandon The Christian Faith" The christian faith is part of the religious realm. A realm in which it becomes very hard to find "Authenic Faith."
When one studies religious history and it's traditions one learns that all religions are susceptible to corruptions.
How then does one find "Authenic Faith?"
Many Reglions make "Absolute Truth Claims", demand absolute blind obedience, establish the "Ideal" time, the end justifies any means and history shows that they all have and had their "Holy Wars.'
People not only abandon the christian faith, they abandon their own cultural faith that they were born into.
You ask why, my response answers part of the question because there are many other reasons why.

we all remember the doctrine of blood guilt,now for some time i have been of the belief that the gb are blood guilty for the death of the witness in the german concentration camps,they were told to preach against the nazi party ,which is in violation of the bibles principle of 'being no part of the world' and is verging on political action.
this work drew attention to themselves by the german authorities.
had they just been good christians and keeping out of politics none would have died in the camps..

my ex dub hubby is put of god by that story alone ,and my 21 year old daughter thinks it was very cruel of god to play mind games with abrahams head if its true ,why would a loving god do such a thing and what was the reason ?

God is unknowable and yet we claim he ordered Abraham to sacrifice his son. Man wrote this history about Abraham and the rest of the Hebrew scriptures. It's a history of the hebrew culture with man mixing in God related things that don't make sense.
God being unknowable, how could we believe that he would ask such a thing that affects the mental and emotional well-being of Abraham. God knew Abraham according to the history already written down by the hebrew writer.
We would not think of this unthinkable act concerning our own precious children and we are made in the image and likenes of God, so if we would not even think of this act, then neither would God.
Also we don't have the original manuscripts, it's all hand me down. I would not trust what man wrote about God and put the blame on God about such and such. Remember God is unknowable. Man is knowable and what he is capable of doing. All religions slant their story and historical relationship with God now Jesus their own way.
